Information

We are proud to announce 5 brand new educational shows. Show times are: 9-10:30, 11-12:30, and 1:15-2:30. These times include science activities. All shows run Tuesday through Thursday.

Please call the Schreder Planetarium reservation line at (530) 225-0242 for information on pricing and availability of planetarium shows.

All of our shows have been linked to the California State Science Standards. Many other standards are addressed in our shows, such as history, fine arts, math, and language arts. So, review, select, and reserve your spot today all for only $4 a person.  See below for program descriptions and dates.

Dates for School Field Trips Only

School field trips are scheduled as shown on links below. We will make every effort to keep the links up to date. When viewing the calendars, if the time slots state "FIELD TRIP", it is available. Otherwise, it will show as "RESERVED". If there is room for you to SHARE the planetarium, it will show as "ROOM FOR". This means you will be able to sit in with the school that has booked prior to you, but will see the show they have already chosen.

Larry Cat In Space is a playful, imaginative cartoon presentation about an inquisitive cat who takes a trip to the Moon. Larry Cat In Space is primarily targeted at grades K-3, although everyone loves an entertaining, fun story! Parents and children alike will enjoy the show, and learn something about the Moon, too!

Science Education Content

The educational focus of Larry Cat In Space is the Moon and its relationship to Earth. The first-person narrative style allows audience members to identify with the main character and share in his adventures. His experiences teach important facts about the Moon and Earth. Multidisciplinary themes in lunar geography, earth/space sciences, physical science, and science as a human endeavor are woven throughout the program, and help relate the information presented in the show to the lives of students, families, and the general public.

Season of Light

Season of Light Trailer

Light up your evening as we bring you the burning of the Yule log, sparkling Christmas trees, candles in the windows, luminaries and the traditional ritual of lighting the Menorah. Feast in the multicultural traditions of the winter solstice. Rituals from ancient Christian, Jewish, Celtic, Nordic, Roman, Irish, Mexican and Hopi cultures are presented, along with more modern traditions of kissing under the mistletoe, caroling, and gift giving. The program does, of course, include some sky gazing.
